"Implementing Real Change in the Real World"

Course Description

We know a great deal about what works in speech-language pathology. Getting those practices into everyday use, in a real building with a real caseload, is a different problem, and it is the one most of us are actually stuck on. This session introduces implementation science as a practical set of tools for clinicians who want to change something in their own setting and have that change hold. We will separate the intervention itself from the strategies used to put it in place, and we will practice specifying a practice change clearly enough that a colleague would know exactly what to do differently on Monday. Examples come from AAC implementation, pragmatic language intervention, and literacy. Participants will leave with a first draft of a change plan for their own caseload, team, or building.
